Apple Today - 1/12/2016 (AAPL)

seymour_greenz • January 12th 2016 10:17:53 AM

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 57 with +56 Fair Value, Dow Futures are up 183. Futures turned from red to green around 4am and stocks in pre-market are on a rally as we approach the open.

Asian markets ended mostly lower today. Although China managed to squeak out a gain of 0.2%, Hong Kong fell 0.89% and Japan was really hit hard, dropping 2.71%. On the other hand, European markets are currently rallying quite strongly. The UK is up 1.88%, France is up 2.47% and Germany is leading the rally up 2.62%.

Commodities are mostly down this morning. Oil is currently up 0.16%, natural gas is down 2.34% and gold is down 0.95%. Unleaded gas is up 1.62% and the rest of energy is up (besides natural gas). Metals are down, meat is mixed. Cocoa, corn, soybeans and wheat are down, coffee is up.

Stocks and oil see relief as Europe shrugs off China money market surge. Nigeria says OPEC may meet soon as slump in oil prices is now hurting Saudis.

Alcoa (AA) is up under 1% after announcing a beat on Q4 earnings but missing revenue yesterday afternoon. Limoneira (LMNR) also reported Q4 results with a beat on revenue but guided FY16 EPS below consensus. This afternoon, look for earnings from transportation company CSX Corporation (CSX) and wholesale distributor SUPERVALU (SVU).

AAPL had a day of recovery, up 1.62% and perhaps ready to break free from the sub-100 "cocoon" that has encased it lately. Opening at 98.94 on a gap up of nearly 2 points and relatively high volume, AAPL sold off initially and was under 98 within 10 minutes on high volume, hitting a low of 97.34 at 9:42am on high volume. AAPL fought back and regained the mid-98 area and subsequently dipped below 98 again, repeating this pattern of winding around 98 a total of 5 times by the end of day, each time on moderate volume. The last dip was one of the most pronounced with AAPL dashing down to touch 97.5 and immediately bouncing to the upper-98 area on moderately high volume just before the bell. AAPL gained 1.57 and closed the intra-day session at 98.53. In after-hours AAPL gained 22 cents, ending up at 98.75.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL picked up where it closed yesterday and pushed higher in conjunction with Futures. AAPL reclaimed 100 shorty after 6am and has since been victoriously hovering in the mid-100 area. AAPL is currently up 1.89 at 100.43.

Classic max-pain is 108.
