Apple Today - 2/01/2016 (AAPL)

Good Morning,

Welcome back from the weekend. NASDAQ Futures are down 24 with -31 Fair Value, Dow Futures are down 105 and S&P Futures are down 14 on this 1st day of February. Futures started out near even after the push up on Friday and have sunk throughout the morning. Personal income numbers are expected before the bell and manufacturing and construction data shortly after.

Asian markets closed mixed today. China ended down 1.78%, Hong Kong dropped 0.45% and Japan gained 1.98%. European markets are down today. The UK is currently down 1.28%, Germany is down 1.24% and France is down 1.18%.

Commodities are mostly down this morning. Oil is down 4.05%, natural gas is down 5.13% and gold is up 0.54%. Unleaded gas is down 2.17% and heating oil is down 2.18%. Metals are mixed with gold, silver up and copper, platinum down. Meat is mixed. Cocoa, coffee, cotton, corn, soybeans and wheat are down.

Stocks cautious after more rocky China data, oil falters. Consumer spending cooled in December as more Americans saved.

Cardinal Health (CAH) reported Q2 earnings and is currently down under 1%.

This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Aflac Incorporated (AFL), American Capital Agency Corp. (AGNC), Alphabet Inc (GOOG), Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDTI), Mattel, Inc. (MAT), Plantronics Inc. (PLT) and Rent-A-Center Inc. (RCII).

Tomorrow before the bell, the ADT Corporation (ADT), Ally Financial Inc. (ALLY), BP p.l.c. (BP), Dow Chemical Co. (DOW), Infineon Technologies AG ADR (IFNNY), Pitney Bowes Inc. (PBI), Pfizer Inc. (PFE), Ryder System, Inc. (R), Ferrari N.V. (RACE), Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL), Sirius XM Holdings Inc. (SIRI), United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS) and Exxon Mobil Corporation (XOM) are expected to report.

AAPL had an optimistic end to a very rough week on high volume, gaining 3.45% on Friday but losing 4% for the week. AAPL started the week out above 100 but struggled to hold it heading into earnings. Wednesday, the day after reporting, AAPL slipped below 96 and ended the day below 94. On Thursday AAPL gave another scare, breaking below 93 and into the 92s before recovering 94. On Friday, AAPL opened at 94.52, briefly hit an intra-day low of 94.35 and quickly soared back up on high volume, coasting up all day to gain 3.25 and end on a high note of 97.34. Trading in a narrow range, AAPL lost 15 cents in after-hours, ending at 97.19.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened down at 97 and drifted down towards 96.5 in conjunction with Futures. After struggling in the mid-96 area AAPL hit a low of 96.13 at 7:45am before bouncing back to mid-96 among some rogue spikes above 97. AAPL is currently down 72 cents at 96.62 as we approach the open.
