Apple Today - 2/18/2016 (AAPL)

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 16 with +16 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 5 with +4 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 53 on this February Thursday, another busy day of economic data. Futures took a dip into the red at 4am but have since recovered nicely, peaking at 6:30am.

Asian markets closed mostly up strong. China being the exception lagged with a small loss of 0.16% while Hong Kong gained 2.32% and Japan closed up 2.28%. European markets are mixed today. The UK is currently down 0.48%, Germany is up 1.49% and France is up 0.9%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is up 2.77%, natural gas is down 2.37% and gold is down 0.31%. Unleaded gas is up 0.90% and heating oil is up 1.59%. Metals are down. Meat is up. Cocoa and cotton are up while coffee, corn, wheat and soybeans are down.

Jobless claims in US decline to lowest level since November. Walmart's Q4 income down 7.9% as sales fall, lowers outlook.

Nvidia Corporation (NVDA) reported earnings yesterday and is up over 8% after beating expectations. SunPower Corporation (SPWR) reported earnings that topped expectations yesterday and is up over 4%. Jack In The Box Inc. (JACK), however, is down 17% this morning after reporting an earnings miss. NetApp, Inc. (NTAP) while initially up after reporting earnings is now down 1% after announcing a cut 12% cut in workforce.

SodaStream International (SODA) reported Q4 earnings this morning and is up nearly 5% on beating expectations. On the other hand Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (WMT) is down over 4% after reporting a challenging Q4 this morning.

This afternoon after the bell, watch for earnings from Applied Materials, Inc. (AMAT), Nordstrom Inc. (JWN), Novatel Wireless Inc. (MIFI) and Boston Beer Co. (SAM).

Tomorrow before the bell, Deere & Company (DE) is expected to report.

AAPL had another strong rally day, "shooting up like a rocket" all day and gaining 1.53% on slightly below average volume. AAPL opened at 96.75 to moderately high volume and saw a quick spike to 97 at 9:38am on relatively high volume followed by a brief dip into the red zone with a low of 96.15 at 9:44am on more high volume. After that it was pretty smooth sailing with AAPL gaining mid-97 in the morning and all the way back up to 98 in the afternoon, staying the course and rarely dipping much and hitting a high of 98.21 on moderate volume. AAPL ended intra-day trading up 1.48 at 98.12. After-hours added an additional 10 cents to 98.28.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened at 98 and gained in conjunction with Futures, even breaking 99 later in the morning before settling back down to the mid-98 area. AAPL is currently up 46 cents at 98.58 as we approach the open.
