Good Morning,

S&P Futures are up 6 with +2 Fair Value, NASDAQ Futures are up 16 with +11 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 36 as we get nearer to Dow 20k again. However, Toshiba (TOSYY) stock is going the other way - dropping another 20% today among losses attributed to its takeover of a nuclear business last year. Qualcomm (QCOM) is facing a $865 million fine after finding it had violated South Korea's competition laws.

This morning's economic calendar features Redbook Chain Store Sales and Pending Home Sales.

Futures were up in early morning, steadily gained steam throughout the morning and are near the highs as we approach the open.

Asian markets ended mixed. China dropped 0.40%, Hong Kong gained 0.83% and Japan went down 0.01%. European markets are also mixed. The UK is up 0.46%, Germany is down 0.01% and France is down 0.04%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is down 0.17%, natural gas is down 1.41% and gold is up 0.11%. Unleaded gas is down 0.13% and heating oil is up 0.05%. Metals are mixed, gold and copper are up while silver and platinum are down. Meats are mixed. Cotton is up while cocoa, coffee, corn, wheat and soybeans are down.

AAPL shorts got a rug shake to the upper-117 area yesterday, with AAPL ending up 0.64% on extremely thin volume. AAPL opened at 116.52 to moderately high volume and immediately put in an intra-day low of 116.49 on relatively high volume before quickly shooting up to the upper-117 area on high volume. Soon after, AAPL set an intra-day high of 117.80 on moderate volume at 10am before drifting down towards mid-117 afterwards. AAPL made another attempt at the upper-117 area shortly after 11:30am on low volume and then dipped below 117.5 on very low volume during lunchtime. AAPL clung to mid-117 in early afternoon on little volume and then slipped towards low-117 towards the end of the day on very low volume, dropping to 117.25 into the close on moderate volume. AAPL ended the day up 74 cents at 117.26 and remained flat in after-hours at 117.26.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened higher in conjunction with Futures and dipped below 117.25 before marching back up to a pre-market high of 117.75 at 8:37am on a report from Flurry Analytics that 44% of new device activations were Apple devices and news that AAPL short interest dropped by 13 million shares within the past 2 weeks. AAPL is currently up 31 cents at 117.57 as we approach the open.
