S&P Futures are down 1 with -1 Fair Value, NASDAQ Futures are flat with -1 Fair Value and Dow Futures are down 19 on this busy January Tuesday. The Detroit auto show shines the spotlight on top automakers as they make announcements throughout the day while the British pound dropped sharply on concerns over post-Brexit Britain. Yahoo (YHOO) announced that CEO Marissa Mayer will step down from Yahoo's board of directors should the Verizon sale go through.

This morning's earnings calendar includes NFIB Small Business Optimism Index and Redbook Chain Store Sales before the bell, followed by Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey and Wholesale Trade expected at 10am.

Futures were down in early morning and bottomed just after 1am, then bounced back to near flat territory, turning slightly green later in the morning and are neutral as we approach the open.

The big earnings winner was Barracuda Networks, Inc (CUDA), up nearly 10% while WD-40 Company (WDFC) didn't fare as well, down nearly 5.5%.

Asian markets ended mostly down. China went down 0.30%, Hong Kong gained 0.83% and Japan dropped 0.79%. European markets are mostly up. The UK is up 0.24%, Germany is up 0.11% and France is down 0.02%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is up 0.42%, natural gas is up 4.09% and gold is down 0.20%. Unleaded gas is up 0.97% and heating oil is up 0.27%. Metals are down except copper. Meats are mostly up. Cocoa, coffee and cotton are up while corn, wheat and soybeans are down.

US small-business optimism index surges by most since 1980. Non-OPEC delivers more than a quarter of promised cuts so far.

WD-40 Company (WDFC) reported Q1 results yesterday afternoon with a profit of 82 cents per share that missed expectations and is down nearly 5.5% in pre-market. On the other hand, Barracuda Networks, Inc (CUDA) announced Q3 results with adjusted earnings of 22 cents per share that beat expectations and is up nearly 10%.

Tomorrow morning before the open, SUPERVALU Inc. (SVU) is expected to report.

AAPL fired up like a rocket yesterday, ending up 0.92% on slightly lower than average volume. AAPL opened up at 117.94 to high volume and immediately set an intra-day low of 117.94 on high volume before skyrocketing up to 119 on huge volume and then fluttering around the 119-line in the morning on moderate volume leading up to set an intra-day high of 119.43 at 11:22am on moderate volume ahead of lunch. AAPL dipped back towards 119 during lunchtime on low volume and into the upper-118 area after 2pm on mild volume before bouncing back up near 119.30 just after 3:30pm on moderate volume and then back to 119 into the close on moderate volume. AAPL ended the day up $1.09 at 119 and gave up 9 cents in after-hours to 118.91.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL picked up with yesterday's after-hours and managed to set a pre-market high of 119.20 at 5:48am before slipping below 119 later in the morning. AAPL is currently down 10 cents at 118.89 as we approach the open.
